4 fireworks shows on southern Vancouver Island this Canada Day long weekend

Canada Day long weekend is fast approaching, and you know what that means!

Fireworks—lots of them! Catch community-favourite viewing spots in and around the city from Saturday, June 29th to Monday, July 1st.

You can watch them after a baseball game or while lounging in a world-famous garden, and if you’re really into fireworks, both Sidney and Victoria will also be hosting a dazzling display.

Whatever you decide, you’re in for a beautiful show!

Here’s a quick list of firework displays happening in and around Victoria this Canada Day long weekend:

Saturday Fireworks at Butchart Gardens

Saturday, June 29th, will present the first of the season’s spectacular Butchart Gardens fireworks show, which occurs every Saturday (weather permitting) and is included in your general admission ticket.

Described as a “one-of-a-kind, world class show”, attendees will be treated to original aerial and ground firework displays designed and choreographed to music by the Butchart’s great-grandson, Christopher Ross.

Bring a blanket or chair, get cozy, and get ready for an awe-inspiring evening!

  • When: Saturday, June 29th at 10:15 p.m.

Sidney Days Fireworks

Sidney Days is a much-anticipated community celebration, occurring over Canada Day long weekend, from Sunday, June 30th to Monday, July 1st.

The merriment will launch on June 30th at 7:30 p.m. in Beacon Park, and will include an opening ceremony, live music from Tune Raiders and a fireworks show!

The fireworks will start at around 10:15 p.m. by the Sidney Waterfront.

  • When: Sunday, June 30th at 7:30 p.m. (fireworks at 10:15 p.m.)

Post-Victoria HarbourCats vs. Nanaimo NightOwls Fireworks

Cheer on your local team and stay for the finale!

Following the game between the Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls, they’ll be treating guests to a wonderful fireworks display to finish the evening off with a bang.

The show will be included in your general admission ticket, which can be purchased here.

  • Where: The Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park, 1014 Caledonia Avenue
  • When: Sunday, June 30th—game starts at 6:35 p.m.

Fireworks at the Legislature

Victoria’s Canada Day always has a sparkling grand finale, and this year is no exception!

The fireworks will be inspire and awe to a soundtrack produced by Bryan Capistrano (a.k.a. DJ Boitano), and not only will the Legislature be putting on their iconic fireworks show, it will also feature the very first drone show by Indigenous artist Rande Cook.

The seven-minute drone show will take place right after the headliner performance and feature ultra-high lumen drones flying in beautiful, mesmerizing formations.

  • Where: Legislature lawns and on Belleville Street between Government and Menzies
  • When: Monday, July 1st at around 10:30 p.m.
