Another Vancouver Island community has been featured in an episode of a new Netflix series.
Sheringham Point Lighthouse, located near Shirley (just an hour outside of Victoria), is highlighted in the fourth episode of Dead Boy Detectives.
Dead Boy Detectives is a Netflix series that follows the supernatural adventures of two deceased teenage detectives and their living friend as they investigate mysterious and often eerie cases.
Set in a world where the boundaries between the living and the dead blur, the show combines elements of mystery, horror, and dark humour, offering a unique twist on the detective genre.
Each episode delves into different supernatural phenomena, blending suspenseful storytelling with compelling character development.
In the episode titled “The Case of the Lighthouse Leapers,” the lighthouse, which attracts tourists from around the globe, is given its own spotlight.
The Sheringham Point Lighthouse was the sole Vancouver Island location featured in the show. It was highlighted on the website Netflix In Your Neighbourhood, which showcases Canadian sites where Netflix productions are filmed.
“Made up of dense forests and stunning vistas of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, visitors love it for the pristine beaches, world-class hiking trails, and opportunities for whale watching and birding,” read a description on the Netflix In Your Neighbourhood website.
“The village itself is small and cozy, with unique houses and local spots that give off a true coastal feel. The cast and crew of Dead Boy Detectives visited Shirley to film at one of the area’s historic lighthouses for Episode 4.”
Other BC locations featured in the series includes Surrey, Langley, and Richmond.
