Have you ever imagined living on a BC Ferries vessel?
We know, sometimes that hour-and-a-half trip across the pond could feel like you’re taking up residence on the ship, but we’re talking about actually making one of these your home.
In a unique opportunity, you could be a homeowner and boat owner at the exact same time—posted on Facebook Marketplace is an ad for a one-of-a-kind float house, which is in fact a converted BC Ferries vessel.
For just $500,000, you could have the best of both worlds—dubbed the Ethel Hunter, the float home boasts 900 square feet of log-built luxury.
Currently moored in Maple Ridge, the 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom home features two levels of ‘pristine carpentry with a variety of wood’ crafted from live-edge timber and whole tree trunks.
According to the ad, the vessel is home to two levels, with main double doors at the north end overhung by the second floor and deck patio.
There is an open-plan living area with kitchen, wet bar, living and dining area, and a wood-burning fireplace.
There’s also a stunning spiral custom stairway to the upstairs, with a three-piece bathroom, a master bedroom, and an unfinished second bedroom.
The ad states that, though the home does require some finishing, it has a current survey for $970,000.
It goes on to say that the vessel is ‘guaranteed to makes heads turn’—oh, and they’re offering viewings, but it will cost you a $50 non-refundable deposit.
